Ge profile lid breaking

I have had my GE profile washer for less than a year now. I have had the lid replaced twice on it. The lid starts cracking on the left side of the washer then does not close right causing the washer to end the cycle in the middle of a wash or just ending the wash as soon as you start the cycle.

If I take a tape measure and measure the depth of the tub it is roughly 18 inches when I select any setting the water only fills up 4 to 5 inches. This is done this from day one unless I put it on bulky then it fills up all the way the agitator that™€™s a joke as well it goes back-and-forth my clothes just sit there, not doing anything. I have put 10 items of loose scrubs into the washer still, it doesn™€™t agitate them. This is done this from day one worst washer machine I have ever owned. I can™€™t afford another one. Wanna waste of money do yourself a favor and don™€™t buy it.

Large capacity. Very efficient. Many options for different types of items washed. I™€™m glad it has the center agitator, it cleans better than the washer I had without. Many water temperature choices. The only thing for me that is a minor challenge, the washer is on a raised platform 1™€ higher than my floor. I am only 5™€ tall & I need to get on tip toes to remove clothes after the wash is complete. However, the tub rotates so smoothly with a touch, I can reach the clothes in front easier. Very reasonable cost wise .

We don™€™t really like it. We don™€™t feel as though the machine puts enough water in the tub to get the clothes clean and there is no way to manually increase the water amount. There is a video in the support page plainly showing how much water should be in the tub based on load size and the washer clearly doesn™€™t use that amount of water. I realize it™€™s supposed to be high efficiency and water saving but I would rather know that my clothes are getting clean.

I purchased the washer in January, 2026. I was immediately disappointed with my first wash. The washer is so loud it seemed like something major just snapped. I saw similar reviews before purchasing the washer but felt it may have been overstated, plus my husband worked for GE at the time. No, the snapping sound happens throughout the wash at every wash cycle. I like to wash my darks in tap cold water to keep from fading and shrinking. I realized my darks were fading and some shrinkage has happened, (especially with jeans) even though I™€™m using the coldest wash. Unfortunately the coldest is NOT tap cold so now I have to turn off my hot water valve. Paid a heck of a lot of money for a washer that doesn™€™t provide a decent water temp. Extremely disappointed. If I can return it I would in a heartbeat.

We bought GE Profile washing machine 16 months ago, attracted by its computerized options, but found it doesn't clean as well as older models. My previous GE washer lasted nearly a decade. That was the reason we decided to go with GE again. This new washer has already required two repairs within 16 months, the second of which is no longer covered by warranty. Not pleased at all with this washer and it cost double than my first washer.

The spin cycle is also so quiet compared to my old washer. I love the app and how I can access the washer from anywhere on delay and it gives me a notification when the cycle is complete.

The washers valve that kept the water from dripping into the washer was faulty after the installer tested the washer. But Buds appliance in Clinton Arkansas was able to come back the next day and replaced the part. I just think that all parts of the washer should work since it is a new washer. Great service with installing the new part. So far the washer is working good.

It™€™s ok, but could be better. It™€™s extremely loud during wash cycle. I did not see a control option for end of cycle alert. No control option for sound adjustment and on/off. No section in the dispenser to add powdered laundry agents. I tried adding the Oxy White powder in the dispenser only to see that most of it remained in the dispenser. I now just add it in the basin before adding clothes. Capacity is ok. Like the Tangle Free option. However, overall I would not recommend this model.

Where to even start. Some clothes aren't even wet at the end of a cycle, let alone clean. Then sometimes it fills all the way up to wash a handful of things, make it make sense! May as well not have an agitator because it doesn't do anything. If it isnt perfectly balanced it will clang around and error out without spinning. Had to study tutorials on how to load this thing and it still gets off balance. Hate this washer and wish I never purchased it. Doesn't save time or water like modern washers are advertised to do. I'll forever buy old/cheap machines from here on out because this new "technology" is crap. CRAP.

I honestly hate this washing machine. For a machine that says it™€™s so smart. It never dispenses enough water. Even when I manually select the deep fill, my loads never have enough water. I have to open the lid rearrange the clothes agitate them like it™€™s the 1800s. I specifically chose GE over Bosch because I™€™m familiar with both brands and GE has always lasted longer doesn™€™t give off weird smells, reliable brand.

We™€™ve had this washer for about a month and it™€™s working great. It has a large drum that holds a lot of clothes. My negatives are that it doesn™€™t default to cold water and depending on the cycle doesn™€™t let you choose the coldest setting. The detergent dispenser seems a bit flimsy. I™€™m worried over time this may break so we are ensuring that we™€™re gentle with it. Other than that the clothes are coming out clean and it™€™s not overly noisy. We are happy with this purchase.

I'm just glad this washer is not upstairs where I could hear it running. It is very noisy with all the gear shifting and clicking. It does seem to get the clothes clean so it is efficient. I don't like the fact that I can't add extra water in the normal cycle but all the other ones u can. The capacity is great. I have room for a lot of clothes ,I don't think it will do my king-size comforter. Not even gonna try it. It did especially seem to have a problem with getting unbalanced with larger loads. The dispenser is cheaply made but works. I just don't see how to use Oxi clean powder in the dispenser. It doesn't desolve when tried it. I don't use the smart washer feature not good with technology.

We purchased this GE Profile washer from Home Depot, expecting better quality from a brand like GE, but our experience has been extremely frustrating. The same part has now failed four separate times, and technicians have had to come out repeatedly to replace it. At this point, it™€™s clear this is either a design or quality issue. A washer should not be breaking down like this over and over again. Customer support from GE Profile has also been disappointing. We expected them to stand behind their product, but instead we™€™ve had to deal with the same repair again and again. This is not the reliability people expect from GE, and unfortunately it feels like these appliances are not made like they used to be. I would strongly recommend doing a lot of research before buying this washer.

Washer is less than 4 years old and all of a sudden the electronics do not work. It gets power but nothing happens....electronics do not change and machine does nothing. I tried unplugging it for 24 hours hoping its computer would reset itself but no luck. Am waiting on the local dealer's repair person to call me. Not happy. Before getting this GE I had a Kenmore for 20 years without one problem. Not happy. I thought GE was the best. Friends have recommended I spend $$$ and get a Speed Queen.

Defective from the Start

Although this washer has all the specs we were looking for at a competitive price it has poor reliability. From the start the electronics were defective: after performing the first wash we turned off the unit but it refused to turn off the audible (turning off) announcement (multiple beeps in descending notes) and then repeated the audible announcement over and over and over until we unplugged the unit. It is apparent that this machine was not adequately tested before leaving the factory. Very disappointing, and what a hassle to have to unplug the unit at the end of each washing operation, and having to deal with service calls on a new product until parts arrive (weeks). We have not purchased GE products for quite some time, and will likely not purchase GE products in the future.

I don't think these modern-day appliances are built to last. The agitator is designed for a full load of clothes; deep fill is too much water. It's a simple washer with complications. The dryer works great. I'm not convinced I did the right thing.

I love the capacity of the washer. Can wash large liad effectively and efficiently. The fill dispenser is kind if in a tight spot to fill with detergent, it should really be in the top front of washer instead of the back. It would be much easier ti fill. I like using the dispenser on the bottle not the cap. This is the worst part of the washer. It performs and cleans well but is loud when running.

Fails at it's primary purpose, cleaning clothes. Does not use enough water. Clothes come out of washer with dry spots! Also, the agitation is violent. Probably to compensate for too little water, resulting in extreme wear and damage to clothes. When I called the GE helpline, the agent I spoke with commented that they had the same model, and the same issues. Their personal solution, and recommendation for me, was to ignore the issues!
